The Unity Party Ideas
Fast Start Accounts (FSAs)
On everyone’s 26th birthday they are endowed with a rebate of all taxes they have paid to date, provided that they have filed taxes, have voted, and are not currently incarcerated.
These funds can be used to purchase a property in NYS, repay student loans, get retrained, or rolled over into a retirement account. We propose to use all means necessary to turn young learners into mature earners: a 26 year who is set up with good civic understanding, some savings, and an earnings mentality is better able to contribute than a disenchanted person who believes in dependency on the government.
Family Tax Rebates (FTRs)
Guardians to receive a 5-10% perpetual rebate on their kids taxes, this to recognize the crucial role guardians and parents play in building future citizens.
Real Equity at Last (REAL)
We propose to offer mortgages and equity vouchers for good long-term residents in public housing. For example for a $150,000 apartment a 20 year tenant could be offered a transferable $40,000 equity voucher and a $80,000 mortgage. The ‘housing crisis’ is partly caused by the city itself not using its own resources with wit and energy.
